New Year, New Team! Meet our Press Manager Marie de Waal

After almost two years of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are starting with great hopes and plans into 2022 and can’t wait to (finally) welcome you back to our country.

We are happy to introduce you to our newest team member Marie de Waal who will be your number one contact for press inquiries and press trips in the future. Marie is originally from Upper Austria but has been living and working in London since 2016.

Marie’s favourite place in Austria is Lake Traunsee in Upper Austria, especially the view from her late grandparents’ home with the mountains Traunstein and Grünberg in the background. “I believe, no summer is complete without at least one swim in the Traunsee,” she says. When Marie misses Austria, her favourite way to connect with home is food. She loves recreating traditional Austrian dishes in her kitchen in London, such as bread dumplings with mushroom sauce, Marillenknödel (apricot dumplings) and her mother’s Ribiselkuchen (redcurrant meringue tart).

“I am looking forward to working with you all and telling you more about some of Austria’s hidden treasures,” she says about her new role.
