Bad Ischl - European Capital of Culture 2024

Bad Ischl and the Salzkammergut will be European Capital of Culture in 2024 together with Tartu (Estonia) and Bodø (Norway). The region with its range of Alpine peaks (the highest capped in snow), 70 lakes, myriad vistas, invigorating air and a tradition of salt mining (hence “Salzkammergut”) was first mentioned over 7,000 years ago and is particularly rich in culture, history and scenic splendour.
Throughout the next year, Bad Ischl and the Salzkammergut have more than 180 special events planned, covering local traditions, the arts, and places of interests for travellers. Have a first peak below!
