Alpe - Adria Trail: From Snowy Peaks to Shining Sea

The Alpe-Adria Trail leads from Austria's highest mountain all the way to the Adriatic Sea. If you are up for the challenge, you can complete the 466 mile trail in 43 stages. However, there is an easier and more relaxing alternative that is equally worthwhile: Pick one or two stretches in an area renowned for its natural beauty, where the borders of Austria, Italy and Slovenia meet.

The Austrian province of Carinthia is known for its generous hospitality, culinary delights and stunning, unspoilt landscapes. Here, the Alpe-Adria Trail wends its way from the eternal ice on the Grossglockner mountain past turbulent rivers and impressive gorges to gently rolling Alpine meadows and lakes glinting in the sun. Enjoyment is key: most of the trail here is low altitude without steep climbs. To make things even easier, you can arrange for your luggage to be sent to each new destination ahead of you. The only thing you'll leave behind is your worries.
