The journey of the Hotel Sacher Salzburg began in 1866 and, ever since, the beautiful icon has been welcoming guests with charming local flavor in its historic riverside setting.
This year, the Hotel Sacher Salzburg celebrates 150 years of exceptional hospitality and a well deserved reputation for excellence. As a special birthday gift, the Salzburg State Theater honored its iconic neighbor by throwing a Sacher Anniversary Matinée with prominent faces from the worlds of art and culture.
The city’s only historic luxury hotel is still privately owned and family-run—now by the fourth generation of Winkler and Gürtler families. After an extensive renovation in 2016, the Hotel Sacher Salzburg features a new collection of rooms and suites. The elegant update reflects a regional style inspired by the noble country residences of Salzburg and the surrounding Salzkammergut. All guest rooms are individually decorated with original oil paintings and antique furnishings—making the Hotel Sacher home to one of Austria’s largest private art collections.
